SOUTH AFRICAN PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA IN SELF-QUARANTINE
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has gone into self-quarantine after learning that a guest at a charity dinner he attended tested positive for coronavirus. According to his office, President #CyrilRamaphosa has begun a period of self-quarantine, however not showing any symptoms of the virus, but will in line with COVID-19 health advice, be tested should symptoms manifest.

GUINEA’S CONDE WINS CONTROVERSIAL THIRD PRESIDENTIAL TERM
President #AlphaConde has been declared winner of Guinea’s disputed presidential poll, according to the national electoral, setting the stage for a controversial third term.
Conde is said to have won 59.49 percent of the votes in the October 18 election. His main opponent #DaleinDiallo , at the forefront of protests against a third term for Conde was credited with 33.5 percent of the votes.

TRUMP ANNOUNCES PLANS TO REMOVE SUDAN FROM STATE SPONSORS OF TERRORISM LIST
President #DonaldTrump has announced that he intends to lift Sudan’s state sponsor of terrorism designation of the US presidential election. Trump said on Twitter that once the $335 million that Sudan has agreed to pay as part of a settlement for victims of twin bombings against the US Embassies in Tanzania and Kenya in 1998, he will lift the designation.

LEAD SUSPECT IN ASSASSINATION OF RAFIK HARIRI, LEBANON’S EX-PM, FOUND GUILTY
The lead suspect in the 2005 bombing that killed former Lebanese Prime Minister #RafikHariri was convicted at a tribunal in the Netherlands on Tuesday.
#SalimJamilAyyash was found guilty of being part of the “red cell phone network” involved in the planning of Hariri’s assassination.

FRANCE CONDEMNS ‘UNACCEPTABLE’ COMMENTS FROM TURKEY’S ERDOGAN AND RECALLS AMBASSADOR
France has also condemned Turkish President #Erdogan over comments he made about Emmanuel Macron’s mental health and treatment of Muslims. Erdogan had earlier made comments that the French President needed “some sort of mental treatment” over his attitude towards Muslims in France.
Macron has vowed to crack down on radical Islamism in France after the country was shaken by the beheading of Samuel Paty on October 16.

HUNDREDS DEMONSTRATE IN WARSAW AFTER POLAND’S HIGHEST COURT IMPOSES NEAR TOTAL BAN ON ABORTION
Police are engaging demonstrators after hundreds gathered in the capital of Warsaw to protest a near-total ban on abortions. Poland’s highest court had ruled that abortions due to fetal defects were unconstitutional. Around 98% of abortions in Poland had been conducted as a result of fetal defects, meaning the ruling bans virtually all terminations taking place in the country.
The country already has some of the strictest abortion laws in Europe and will now only allow a termination in cases of rape, incest or when the mother’s life is in danger. The ruling sparked furious protests in the country.

INDIA SIGNS DEFENSIVE AGREEMENT WITH US FOLLOWING HIMALAYAN STANDOFF WITH CHINA
The United States and India have reaffirmed their defensive and security relationship, as Washington continues to rally allies in Asia amid concerns over increased Chinese military activity in the region. During a press conference on Tuesday in the Indian capital, US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper and his Indian counterpart announced the signing of the Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement (BECA), enabling greater information-sharing and further defense cooperation between the two countries.
