LA-based producer Diamond Pistols has joined forces with Rich Brian on brand new single ‘Time Machine’.
An endearing combination of complex, post-trap production, witty lyricism and Brian’s smooth, confident vocals, ‘Time Machine’ is a captivating modern hip-hop track with serious crossover potential.
“Brian and I started the idea for ‘Time Machine’ before the pandemic,” Diamond Pistols explains. “But it didn’t really fully take shape and connect until mid-pandemic, when neither of us had seen our friends or family for months. It’s really about longing for good memories from the past, while realizing that we’ll look back on the moment we’re living right now in nostalgia some day.”
Rich Brian adds, “I wrote this song after I went to Camp Flog Gnaw, I felt so much post concert depression and I really wished I had a time machine so I could see YG perform ‘In The Dark’ one more time,”
Frequent collaborators, Diamond Pistols has produced some of Rich Brian’s previous solo work, with ‘Time Machine’ marking the Jakarta-born artist’s first release away from the 88rising imprint he’s synonymous with. ‘Time Machine’ also marks the first single release from Diamond Pistols’ forthcoming EP, with the likes of bbno$, Jaymes Young and Jutes set to feature on other tracks.
A certified hit-maker producer, Diamond Pistols has amassed multiple gold and platinum-certified tracks since bursting onto the scene in 2013, also clocking a Billboard #1 for his production efforts on Jackson Wang’s “Mirrors”. In the years since, he has produced music and collaborated with some of music’s biggest names, such as Blackbear, Flosstradamus, Joji, DVBBS, Lil Pump and Yung Gravy.
Amassing hundreds of millions of streams across his back catalogue, Rich Brian is a global sensation who first emerged in 2016 with viral Soundcloud smash ‘Dat $tick’. He then dropped debut album Amen in 2018, breaking into the ‘Top 20’ of the Billboard 200 in the process, and more recently linking up with US rapper Guapdad 4000 on single ‘Bali’.
Diamond Pistols’ new single ‘Time Machine’ is not only a result of a partnership between two long-term collaborators but marks the start of an exciting chapter for the US producer.
